SmartFusion Documentation

Everything you need to connect, fuse, and query your enterprise data using the SmartFusion platform.

Quick Start

Get up and running with SmartFusion in three simple steps. Most teams are querying unified data within 30 minutes.

1

Connect Your Data Sources

Use the dashboard or API to connect your databases, SaaS apps, and file systems. SmartFusion supports 200+ pre-built connectors with AI-powered schema detection.

2

Configure Fusion Rules

Define how your data should be unified. SmartFusion's AI automatically maps schemas, resolves conflicts, and suggests entity relationships. Customize merge logic, deduplication rules, and sync frequency.

3

Query Your Unified Data

Use SQL, natural language, or the GraphQL API to query across all your connected sources as if they were a single database. Results are returned in real time with full lineage tracking.

bash
# Install the SmartFusion CLI
npm install -g @smartfusion/cli

# Authenticate
sf auth login --api-key YOUR_API_KEY

# Connect your first data source
sf connect postgres --host db.example.com --port 5432 --database mydb

# Run your first fusion query
sf query "SELECT * FROM unified.customers LIMIT 10"

API Reference

The SmartFusion REST API uses JSON for all request and response bodies. All endpoints require authentication via Bearer token in the Authorization header. Base URL: https://api.smartfusion.io/v1

POST/v1/connect

Register a new data source connection. SmartFusion will auto-detect the schema and begin initial sync.

json
{
  "type": "postgresql",
  "name": "Production DB",
  "config": {
    "host": "db.example.com",
    "port": 5432,
    "database": "production",
    "credentials_id": "cred_abc123"
  },
  "sync": {
    "mode": "realtime",
    "interval": null
  }
}
GET/v1/query

Execute a fusion query across all connected sources. Supports SQL, natural language, and GraphQL syntax.

json
// Request
GET /v1/query?q=SELECT+*+FROM+unified.customers+WHERE+region='EU'&format=json

// Response
{
  "data": [...],
  "metadata": {
    "sources": ["postgres_prod", "salesforce_crm", "sap_erp"],
    "query_time_ms": 47,
    "record_count": 1243
  }
}
POST/v1/knowledge-graph

Build or update a knowledge graph from your unified data. Define entity types, relationship rules, and inference parameters.

json
{
  "name": "customer_360",
  "entities": ["customers", "orders", "support_tickets", "products"],
  "relationships": "auto_detect",
  "inference": {
    "enabled": true,
    "confidence_threshold": 0.85
  }
}
GET/v1/sync-status

Check the real-time synchronization status of all connected data sources, including latency, throughput, and error metrics.

json
// Response
{
  "sources": [
    {
      "id": "src_pg_001",
      "name": "Production DB",
      "status": "syncing",
      "latency_ms": 23,
      "records_synced": 14832901,
      "last_sync": "2026-05-14T10:32:00Z"
    }
  ],
  "overall_health": "healthy"
}

Code Examples

Here are common integration patterns to get you started quickly.

Python - Connect and Query

python
from smartfusion import Client

client = Client(api_key="your_api_key")

# Connect a data source
source = client.connect(
    type="postgresql",
    name="Analytics DB",
    host="db.example.com",
    database="analytics"
)

# Query unified data
results = client.query(
    "SELECT customer_id, total_spend, risk_score "
    "FROM unified.customer_360 "
    "WHERE region = 'EU' AND risk_score > 0.8"
)

for row in results:
    print(f"{row.customer_id}: ${row.total_spend} (risk: {row.risk_score})")

Node.js - Knowledge Graph

javascript
const SmartFusion = require('@smartfusion/sdk');

const sf = new SmartFusion({ apiKey: 'your_api_key' });

// Build a knowledge graph
const graph = await sf.knowledgeGraph.create({
  name: 'supply_chain',
  entities: ['suppliers', 'warehouses', 'shipments', 'products'],
  relationships: 'auto_detect'
});

// Natural language query
const insights = await sf.query(
  'Which suppliers have the highest delay rate in the last 30 days?',
  { format: 'natural_language' }
);

console.log(insights.answer);
console.log(insights.data);
